This is a view of the back of the castle keep. The doorway at the base of the keep was added in recent times. Originally the only entrance to the keep was by way of a ladder which was pulled up after entering the keep. This last refuge made for a nearly impenitratable stronghold where the castle residents could wait out a seige of the castle.
